Pollock, Monet, Da Vinci, Van Gogh

The paint splatters of Pollock, Van Gogh's Starry Night, the scenic landscapes that enlightened Monet, and that mysterious smile captured by Da Vinci; all have impacted the artistic world.

For my Web Design Final Project, I decided to create a web site that showcased the lives and works of four historic artists that have demonstrated their talents over several centuries. The navigation bar lists all the names of the artists that are featured on this website. By clicking on any name, you will be taken to a page entirely about them. By click on topics underneath the 'topic' bar to the right, you will be navigated to different links that are focused on specific aspects of every artist. Please enjoy my site and the content that I have created.

Leonardo Da Vinci ~ Achievements

I strongly believe that Leonardo da Vinci is the most established, most well known painter that I have researched, in my opinion. He has achieved and completed many remarkable things and has created stunning works of art. His most prized piece known throughout history being the Mona Lisa. Other works of art that have been displayed globally and are extremely cherished are: The Last Supper, the Vitruvian Man, and Lady with an Ermine. Da Vinci has completed many religious works for cathedrals, temples, and churches all around the world as well.

Leonardo Da Vinci ~ Birth & Childhood, Education

Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano, Tuscany near the small town of Vinci, Italy. His mother was a peasant and his father was an attorney and they were never married. Because his parents remarried and had other partners, da Vinci had a total of 17 brothers and sisters, or half-siblings. Growing up, da Vinci was known throughout his town to be an extremely talented artist, thinker, and inventor. Surprisingly, da Vinci was never taught any formal form of education apart from the basics like reading and mathematics, but his family always supported his artistic aspirations while he grew up. At 15, he became an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio, a highly well known sculptor at the time. Once he entered into his 30's, da Vinci began creating his own pieces of art.

Claude Monet - Achievements

In his beginning years as a painter, Monet introduced and developed a new art form called "Impressionism" and incorporated Modern Art mediums into his pieces as well. Interestingly though, Monet served in Algeria while being stationed there as a soldier. After his discharge, he went back to Paris and studied art under his fellow painters. His most famous work would come to be from his last collection of paintings before his death, "Water Lily Pond." Various pieces of his have been exhibited throughout the world in several museums.
